How to Teach Syllable Types - Intervention Tip of the Week

Hey There!

This week we are talking all about one of our favorite topics!

Syllable Types

When working with struggling readers, we find it critical to make sure that we are providing frameworks or memory supports wherever possible.

Whenever we can lump rules and things we need students to remember into bigger-picture concepts, it really helps them understand the information better! One amazing way to do this is by teaching the syllable types. We have TONS of information on the six syllable types and what they are in our blog post here >>What’s This About Six Syllable Types<<

The great thing about teaching these rules to students is that we can lump phonics patterns into their syllable types to provide bigger picture buckets for students. This gives them a bigger-picture concept to hold onto and can help them understand the information better.
