How to Be Grateful (Always - Not Just This Week)

Hey there friends,

Today, we’re taking a bit of a detour away from our typical content. We find this topic SO IMPORTANT that we wanted to take this week of reflection a bit further. Because we just celebrated Thanksgiving here in the States we decided to take this time to reflect with each of you.

Working in the education field can be tough.

Rewarding and incredible, but also tough.

We find that with the constant changes and shifts in the field it can, at times, be difficult to stay grounded, to remember what we’re here for, and why we’re doing this. We need to stay grounded to that simple truth that we were put here, on this earth, for a purpose.

So even in years like 2020 (which we’re, ahem, grateful to bring to a close) - we always make sure to reflect on everything for which we can be grateful.

Here on our team, we’ve created a daily practice of beginning the day or team meeting with at least one gratitude.

What it’s allowed us to do, is shift away from the stress, and the struggle, even for just a few moments while we reflect. And what we’ve noticed is that when you take that time to start your day (EVERY day, not just Thanksgiving day) with a moment of reflection and gratitude, it carries through your entire day.

And when you can really take the time, not just to write down and SHARE (this is a key distinction, share your gratitude with someone else) your gratitude but to also FEEL it, to lean in and expand that feeling inside of you when you think about your gratitude, that energy shifts you.

And the magical thing is that your students can feel that energy too.

Because our energy transfers, it expands, and when your students receive that bright and grateful energy frequency from you, then they carry it too. And they share it with their other teachers, their classmates, and their families.

When we are feeling stressed, or fatigued, our students feel it - and they take that on and carry it with them. But if instead, we can channel our gratitude, they can carry gratitude instead of stress.

What we’d like to challenge you to do, is to join our daily practice of sharing at least one gratitude every morning, and really taking the opportunity to FEEL that gratitude in your core (no passive gratitude lists here) and see how things begin to change for you, for your students, for your work.

We are grateful to have you here, in this community.
