Teaching Reading Sessions Online When Students Can't Come Live

Read to see how we run effective online reading lessons and track student progress when students can’t come live!

Over the last several weeks, educators, SLPs, and interventionists all over the country have been tasked with working remotely. Workbooks have been made digital, and in-person lessons have been held on computers, and iPads…we’ve even heard of folks working with students via phone calls!

Today, we want to walk through how you can instruct students online - even if you can’t meet with them live.

Maybe you are running group sessions and students can’t all meet at the same time. Maybe, your school has asked you to post video lessons instead of holding Zoom meetings. Whatever the case may be, as long as you have some sort of computer and a program that will let you record your computer screen (we use Zoom to screen share and record videos), you can still create effective reading intervention lessons. By formatting lessons in this way, you can also track student progress & assign homework without needing families to print & scan anything in.

Check out the video below for more information about online lessons, AND learn more about the SMARTER Intervention program that provides both digital and printable versions of all lessons.
